Wondoflex – funny name for a wool shop you might think. Well it could probably be changed to something more trendy (and perhaps easier to remember) – but when something has been around for about 70 years, it’s difficult to contemplate change.
Wondoflex was originally a family owned company producing elasticized material and yarn – thus the name. When the market for this product declined in the sixties, the family changed direction and began selling knitting yarn to the public. The original business was located in Gardenvale and shifted to our current location in Malvern in the 1960s.
Visitors to our store will find a huge warehouse style retail store – the floors creak and the paint is peeling but the atmosphere is pleasant and the beautiful yarns both local and imported more than compensate for a glitzy building.
The shop is fully staffed with experienced knitters who are always happy to offer advice on your knitting needs or problems you may encounter. |
